Taverham Garden Centre, located some 6 miles to the north west
of Norwich, is known for its high-quality products, extensive
stock lines, competitive prices and first-class customer service.
The business has been trading for over 23 years and in that
time has established an excellent reputation both at a local
level and throughout East Anglia.
Ken Dye and Roy Drane started the business in 1982,
supplying strawberry plants and Christmas trees to commercial
markets. In the early 1980s, the business began to expand
and product lines diversified into sales of plants, peat,
compost and basic gardening items. This expansion encouraged
the retail side of the business and was to see the beginnings
of that strong local customer base that is the core of
the business today. The name Taverham Garden Centre is
widely known and frequently recommended by word of mouth
among the general public.
Further expansion throughout the 1980s and 1990s led
to an increased capacity to carry more stock and thus
to the development of the company's product lines, such
as the introduction of garden furniture and leisure products
which was to prove highly successful. Soon the range
of goods on offer provided probably the largest selection
in Norfolk.
During this period of expansion, the site
at Taverham was reorganised. A Craft and Country Shopping
Centre was added and the existing restaurant,
Magnolia's Restaurant, upgraded, improving its food,
refreshment and toilet facilities. The long established
pet food and accessories business, Ken's Corn Stores,
also relocated to the Taverham Garden Centre site, further
enhancing the site's offering and diversity.
More changes and improvements were made throughout the
1990s and the early years of the 21st century, whilst
maintaining a high level of customer care delivered
by well-trained, knowledgable and motivated staff,
some
of whom have been with the business for many years.
And this is the hallmark of Taverham Garden
Centre: honest prices, great customer service and a fantastic
range of quality goods.
